Barbara Baum, DDS

My profession involves much more than working on teeth. The regularity of seeing patients gives me the insight on their daily life, the habits, and the family life. The medical issues we come across may involve our action or a referral in the right direction, and we are always watching out for the general health of our patients on a high frequency in addition to their dental health.

Education and Continuing Education

In order to become a dentist, I was a student at dental school in the Universitaet Witten/Herdecke in Germany before I attained my Doctorate Degree in Dentistry from UCLA. I lastly earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery and my California Dental License.

I participate in more than 50 hours of continuing education per year in cosmetic, general and implant sectors. I obtain these hours through classes, conferences and study clubs. These courses are important to me because they help me to constantly be on top of the best that dentistry can offer in order to serve our clients with excellent care. As a part of my continuing education, I am an active member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the San Francisco Dental Society.

In the Practice

I can positively change the smiles of people, and love to make them happy. The best part of my job is when I can overwrite a negative dental experience and help people start to like their appointments. On top of all this, I really like my work, and knowing I am good at it and only getting better.

The rewarded trust and confidence that my patients have in me pushes me to perform at my very best. To see a client overcome her fears, relaxing, even sometimes falling asleep during the procedure lets me know I’ve done my job right.

Personal Life

I am originally from Heidelberg, Germany, and have lived in San Francisco for nearly ten years. I am married and have two wonderful children at home. In my spare time, I enjoy painting, reading, travelling, hiking and cooking. I also love volunteering for Amnesty International.
